What comes to mind when you think about "Reproductive Health"? Sex? Pregnancy? STIs? Do you believe it's something that only women and girls should worry about?

Actually, it's something we should ALL be concerned about, even before we hit puberty!

Let's go back a bit.... what is "Reproductive Health"?

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Reproductive Health as: A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of reproductive disease or infirmity. Reproductive health deals with the reproductive processes, functions and system at all stages of life. So basically saying that your penis or vagina and all other reproductive organs should be working properly, and YOU should be able to have a responsible, satisfying and safer sex life and have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so.

But how??

Well, you should also have access to proper information and relevant services such as counseling, contraceptives and more.

There are tons and tons of information out there, and it's easy to get overwhelmed and confused. If you're not sure about something, the safest thing to do is talk to a healthcare provider (doctor/nurse), and while you're there, why not get a quick check up? For the most part it's painless and you can be proud of yourself for taking charge of your reproductive health!
