BFLA 16 Days of Activism Flag Design Competition
The Belize Family Life Association, through the “Speaking Up: Reaching Out for GBV Prevention” Project seeks to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders to effectively increase access to quality Gender Based Violence screening, counseling and referral services, and empower young persons to speak out against GBV and unfriendly policies which affect their lives. It also seeks to build the capacity and competences of young persons and the wider community to develop zero tolerance for GBV and not accept it as “part of life”. It will position GBV as an effective avenue thought which CSE can be introduced in the schools.
As a part of the 2018 16 days of Activism activities, BFLA is inviting young persons between the ages of 13 and 24 to participate in a flag design competition. The flag will be a representation of the 16 days of activism which is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10th, Human Rights Day.
The winning design will be replicated and produced to be displayed during the 16 Days of Activism 2018, through the support of the 16 Days of Activism Planning committee and other partners. The purpose of this activity is to raise awareness on the issues surrounding Gender Based Violence particularly as faced by women and youth and to encourage a dialogue among young persons on the importance of speaking up against Gender Based Violence.
